Evangelist Wanda K. Lawrence & Deacon Tyrone Lawrence
Tyrone and Wanda started spending time with each other after church services at Mt. Zion UCOG in the late 70’s. He would sometimes ride his motorcycle to her apartment and just visit. Different people in the church tried to put them together, but it had to happen the way God designed it. This went on for a few months and then stopped and they both went their separate ways but remained distant friends. They would speak to each other at church, but that was it! Tyrone was always very quiet and then one Sunday evening after church, he came to Wanda and asked if he could come over to her home. His invitation was accepted, and the visits continued.
They spent time watching Dallas Cowboy games (during football season), traveling to church services, trying to play a little tennis, walking and getting to know one another. In the summer of 1981, Tyrone proposed to Wanda and they were married January 23, 1982 at St. Peter UCOG in Moore County. They celebrated 40 years of marriage in January 2022. They are very proud of their two sons given to them by God, Tyrone Lemahr and Tryston Lemarcus.
Evangelist and Deacon Lawrence both agree that it is important to pray for your spouse. Tyrone was saved and Holy Ghost filled and was sold out for God. Wanda knew that she had a calling on her life to minister the Word of God. She prayed that God would please send her a husband, who would love the Lord first and then love her. She wanted someone who would be supportive in her ministry and asked God to send her someone so that she would not have to be a single woman in ministry. God answered her prayer and Tyrone has been by her side in ministry. One year after they were married, Wanda gave her initial sermon and they together are working in ministry. God gave them each other. They founded Jehovah Shammah Ministries in Kernersville and held its first service on November 10, 2002 and continue to work together. Deacon Lawrence was ordained as Deacon during the Dedication of the Church and Ordination Service on February 3, 2003. Deacon Lawrence is a Praise and Worship leader and has the humble spirit, “Whatever my hands find to do, I’ll do it”. God continues to bless in ministry.
