Children's Ministry
The Children’s Ministry has been established at Jehovah Shammah Ministries (JSM) since 2005 and has continued to grow. It is currently under the leadership direction of Sis. Melva Wilder, a young woman who loves the Lord and loves children. She serves with passion and zeal. She is an active member of JSM and a Registered Nurse. The children meet monthly on the 2nd Saturday. At this time, they spend time learning about God, participating in fun activities, and eating together.

CARD MINISTRY
The Card ministry is the newest ministry, established in 2022. The sole purpose of the card ministry is to encourage members, as well as members of the surrounding communities. Romans 12: 15 “Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep”. A word to lift one’s spirit touches the heart of the recipient who is experiencing loss or illness of any kind. A word is also great to celebrate a joyous occasion, such as a birthday, an anniversary, or the birth of a baby. The card ministry allows JSM to show that we love and care, even when we are not physically present.
VISION: The vision of the JSM Card Ministry is to reach more people with a message of Love, hope and encouragement and to show people throughout the communities that JSM has a heart for God and for them.
I Thessalonians 5: 11 “Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”
MISSION: The Mission of the JSM Card Ministry is to demonstrate the love, hope and mercy of Jesus Christ. We will share the love of God to individuals who are experiencing challenging times, by sending a message of love, hope and joy.

God is a Prayer Answerer!
He’s Listening!
PRAYER MINISTRY
The prayer ministry began in October 2020, when Evangelist Lawrence obeyed the call of God. 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
We truly believe that it is time now, more than ever to keep the channels of communication to God open. God wants to heal the land. We believe God and will continue to seek his face. Romans 12: 12 “Rejoicing in Hope, patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer.” We must keep praying and seeking God for answers.
Prayer occurs each Thursday at 12 noon by conference call. There is a call for special prayer and there is a word given each week. God is truly blessing and 25-30 people may join the prayer line weekly.
If you have special prayer request and/or would like to join the prayer, please dial: 434-300-4080 CODE: 878920
MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE USE MINISTRY
The Mental Health and Substance Use ministry was established in 2019. Evangelist Lawrence has a passion for mental health ministry and desired for several years to have a mechanism to reach those experiencing challenges in mental health. Mental health challenges are REAL, and too often, as a church, we tend to push it aside and ignore it. Evangelist Lawrence desires to provide hope to those who are suffering with mental health challenges, as well as those in recovery.
Glenice Dukes Woodard, MA is our Mental Health Ministry leader. She grew up in the church but spent most of her formative years unsuccessfully fending off rejection, developing issues of low self-esteem and anger. She first accepted Christ as her Savior when she was just 11 years old, but it took many years for her to learn to trust Him with the minutia of life. She returned to college nearly 20 years after dropping out to earn a bachelor’s degree in Professional English from NC A&T State University and a master’s degree in English from NC State. A member of both the praise team and the card ministry, she writes skits and poems for special occasions. Married for nearly 40 years, she is the mother of two, grandmother of 8, and great grandmother of 3. She currently teaches English and Critical Thinking at Guilford Technical Community College and is taking online training at Lighthouse University to become a peer mental health coach. She believes that Christ can fix anything, heal any disease, and solve any problem, but people need each other. We overcome by the word of our testimony; all things are possible with Christ.
The 2020-2021 Ministry Goals include:
-
Collaborate with local church and community leaders to establish a relationship that will enhance the spiritual awareness pertaining to mental health
-
Offer spiritually based mental health/substance use workshops to the local church and the wider surrounding communities
-
Begin discussion related to Opioid usage and mechanisms for community engagement
-
Plan opportunities for community educational events as it relates to Mental health awareness/substance use
-
The ministry has conducted several workshops over the past two years with a focus on Mental Health and will continue to provide education for the community.

WOMEN’S MINISTRY
Ecclesiastes 3:11
“He hath made everything beautiful in his time.”
Psalms 139: 14
“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”

The purpose of the women’s ministry is to provide a mechanism for women to join in fellowship with one another for encouragement. The goal is that women will be empowered to be leaders in ministry and the community, and to be dedicated to God. We are somebody because God made us. We are phenomenal women who love the Lord. With God, all things are possible. The women meet together to connect with one another and to grow deeper in their love for Jesus Christ.
